About Filomena Aversa
Filomena’s 30 years experience and devotion to yoga sadhana draws on the focus of breath to cultivate the subtle pranic body of being. Her innate knowledge extends from the therapeutic and somatic levels of body-breath awareness to the systemized techniques of pranayama as a means of purifying and enlivening the subtle energy systems of the three bodies. She applies the techniques of specific asana, mudra and sound guided by mind-breath fusion to surrender to one’s own inner guru the source of inspiration and creativity.
Filomena’s deepest gratitude lies in the many wonderful and dedicated teachers along her path. She has worked under the tutelage of world-renowned teachers of the many schools of Classical Yoga, Ayurveda, Zen and Tao practice.
“I give thanks to the many other young teachers, friends, and family that have inspired the importance of connection, whether pleasant or unpleasant, all were my teachers and part of my destiny.”
Filomena’s two year Diploma with the Integral Yoga Academy of Australasia brought the experiential applications to reflect on all that presented itself to her through the perspective of yoga philosophy. It qualified her as a Yoga Practitioner, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Chikitsa ,therapist. She also was called upon to assess student yoga teachers for the Academy in her post graduate period of three years following.
She has worked with the Solomon Yogalates Training School in Byron Bay teaching pranayama and compiled the Experiential Yoga Philosophy Manual from 2002 -2004. Filomena conducted Integral Yoga classes, therapeutic one to one sessions and Experiential Yoga Philosophy Workshops from Malacchi Range Retreat on the North coast of NSW, from 1999 to 2006. In 2007 Filomena completed a certificate in Cosmic Healing Practioner (H1) with Mantak Chia.
“Timelessness is a beautiful word for it has no boundaries and that is where mind can dwell if we open our hearts. We are free to choose.”
