Lila - The Divine Dance of Life
Can we just drop the ego!
Letting ego take a back seat in our approach to life can keep us from falling into an emotional rut. What does it all mean I, Me, Mine? Who am I? and where am I going? The big questions of life are always there lurking in the back of the mind. Let’s take a glimpse at the bigger picture from the Vedic perspective of creation, the beginning of time and bring it into the present moment of where we, as co-creators of the universe, are right now.
The Truth of the Matter is...
A Deeper look into the Essence and Non-essence of Being.
Life itself is a beautiful reminder for when things get tough, that nothing is permanent and all we are doing is riding the waves of duality, Pain becomes Bliss and Bliss, Pain. In the words of Buddah, "Annica"
MYOB - Vipassana Meditation
The Ancient - Modern Way of getting things in order mentally, emotionally and physically
I had to ask myself what was my intention behind giving myself the biggest boot camp of my life? And in a flash I knew; I just wanted peace. Peace from the disorder of mind moving from one thought to the other, especially as my thoughts were to do with everyone else’s lives. It dawned on me that I needed to rearrange the priorities in my life and let go of the rest. I needed clarity and order. I needed to MYOB myself.

Positive Benefits of Integral Yoga
Yoga Chikitsa and its Function
The Web of Body, Mind and Spirit
I have been teaching yoga for many years and Yoga Chikitsa (therapy) is also part of my training. Traditionally it is a one on one therapy with the client who wishes to explore their deeper levels of body, mind, emotions, desire and ultimate contentment. Diagnosis and understanding of the client needs to be addressed from the many layers of their individuality before they can engage in the healing process.
Swimming with Dolphins
Experiencing the Healing Powers of Dolphins
My eyes meet his one. A very curious, shy but warm gaze is upon me. I am hoping I also transmit warmth, calm and respect towards him, but when you are that close to a large sea creature you can’t help feeling a little apprehensive. Instinctively, I start to hum gently and release a low deep “Om” mantra...humming sounds emit soothing soundwaves and renders one calm.
Where the Silence of Space meets Akasha
It’s good to be back in the Australian countryside; where bush meets the sky, where there are wide spaces of expansive nature, clean air and crystal clear water. In some areas the mesmerising silence enfolds you like a security blanket and that is the loudest teacher of them all. This silent space is the most expounding element of nature that meets you face to face, heart to heart and all mind can do is rest. The seat of mind is in the heart and mind can rest when it arrives home.
Hello 2014 and Welcome to lovelivingyoga
Getting in Touch with your Divine Self
Well it’s time to move from holiday mode into work mode, which is always welcome after a good rest. What’s it all about? For me, a reflection and new beginnings, it takes me back to the source of picking up where I left off for a long break and even further to the source of how did I get here.
There is a beautiful saying that if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.
Celebrate! It's the End of the Year.
Give yourself the time and space to take a long, deep breath of life!
Whoo hoo! It’s time to celebrate. Not only in the traditional sense but in our own inner selves. I love the end of the year, it’s a time of completion within myself. It means time to drop everything. All the mind mush, work activity, frustrations, elations, just everything. It’s a time of inner gardening, tending the tree of life within me by taking a long deep, conscious breath. Who are we at the end of another year?
It’s a time to not work hard at anything. It’s a time to give over to just what is happening without effort. And while we celebrate with friends and family steal a little time to also retreat a little here and there to rest the in the garden of the soul. A time of weeding out the inner reflections of the past year to make completion and nurture the space for the new.
Sliding Doors into Your Own Space
It’s good to be home in my house again. Suddenly the familiarity of my personal belongings brought me a beautiful realization of who I once was and who I am now. With the changing moments of your life, the solace of memory seems like a comforting place. I am touched by feelings of appreciation and gratitude which seem to overwhelm and flood my heart space. In an instant, an entry into the expansiveness of love takes over. Yes! You can be on your own and still be in love. Still feeling that embrace of connectedness that comes from union; loving my space, loving to cook for myself, in touch with the space around me and every one of my senses gratified. Being in love is giving all of yourself totally, feeling that union of your space and the other. I was tasting the fruits of my life long journey in just being by myself. There is no need for asana, no need for pranayama at this time. The essence of the ancient yoga practices combined, is right here with me now.
Moving the Crow through the Chakras
One of the students in Melaka asked me “why do we always practice the Crow in every class”. The idea of teaching a Chakra workshop in Melaka was not a quick decision of choice just to present a workshop. But rather one that has been brewing in my consciousness for the last two years. So this seemed to be the right time and in the nature of things to come, timing is everything and not dictated by us alone.
Looking from the perspective of Hindu and Native American cultures, close contact with a crow signals auspicious times. Depending from which direction you are approached can portend the type of challenge that will confront you. It is believed that the crow is also a bearer of sacred knowledge and wisdom. The messenger between the physical world and the astral; the friend and guide of the lost souls in transition after death to the astral world. Following is why I became fascinated with the crow from a personal and yogic perspective; the crow became a mascot inclusion for every class I taught in Melaka and for my own personal practice for the past two years.
It started with a big, commanding crow landing on my head as I walked down Jalan Melaka Raya...
Transforming Emotions into Devotions
Just came across something I had written 15 years ago and upon reading it again I thought now is the time to share it. Why? First of all one of my all-time inspirational poems by Kabir was posted on the wall of the Inner Living Yoga studio where I am teaching right now. Emily Katsuno, the dancing yogi and teacher whom I know quite well share the same love of Kabir’s poetry and love for the Divine. Also, we are about to embark on a workshop, exploring the subtle body of the 7 chakras coming soon, August 18 here in Melaka, Malaysia. “Awakening of the Subtle Body“ recounts my experience of yoga sadhana (practice) drawing on the Yoga and Ayurveda philosophy that helped me move deeper into expanding consciousness beyond the gross realm of matter and form. My experience reflects on the passage of practice through the emotional body via the 5 Powers of Prana.
Moving into the practice and understanding of the Chakras can be nebulous and plainly intellectual to say the least, unless it can relate to something that is being experienced within the body, perceptions and ultimately consciousness on a very sub atomic level. The subjects of Kundalini and the Chakras is such an in depth area of Yoga philosophy that you cannot cover it totally in one workshop alone. How to purify the Chakras to unleash the spiral kundalini energy to rise? So for those of you that are coming to the workshop it is a prerequisite to read; it will provide the first platform in understanding the movement and power of prana, life force energy’; And those who are more interested in yoga beyond the anatomical asana please share. May Kabir’s poem and my own reflections touch something within you that sparks the divine light along your path.
From Cocoon to Butterfly
We have just ended our Detox Yoga Prana week at Desa Seni in Bali. The transformations in everybody was a blessing to witness and an honour to be part of. I love to experience the group gathering, because of the different dynamics, at first individual and then they began to merge as one, yet, still remain the masters of their own destiny. The yoga classes help them to explore their feelings and complete their chrysalis journey by the end of the week.
Welcome to my first blog
lovelivingyoga is a reminder to allow ourselves the space to tune into the Flow of Life. Now is forever present to make that happen!
So where to begin my first blog is only relevant to the present moment of Now.… For me the “Now” was in making a decision to face a challenge, as little as, jumping in the car and just driving in unknown territory alone. Destination; beach, but which one I didn’t know. I was looking forward to an adventure of not knowing my way, but just being. Being lost, being whatever was meant to be.
